We were so excited that summer was here and we could take our annual camping trips! This year, we were scheduled to visit South Carlsbad, Carpinteria, and San Elijo for camping trips. Our first trip was the first week of August, and we had a great time at the beach! Just like last year, Keira loved the beach and wanted to spend her entire day in the ocean and playing in the sand.
Nighttime, however, was a different story. We discovered a few weeks ago that she is too big for her pack and play and had the bright idea to bring a sleeping bag and mat for her to sleep in. Keira, however, had other ideas. She was scared to stay in the tent by herself in her sleeping bag, so after hours of trying to convince her to stay in the tent, we all went to bed, Daddy on Keira's mat, and Keira and I on the air mattress. Sounded like a great idea... until a little air leaked from the air mattress. At 3 am, James does a much better job of keeping my side of the mattress inflated than all 30 pounds of Keira. Needless to say, it was not a great night of sleep.
The next night, instead of trying to convince her to sleep, we let her stay up until we were ready-ish to go to bed. She was thrilled to be awake when "the stars are in the sky, Mommy!"
The tricycle was a wonderful idea. It helped get her to the potty in time several times- and it's never too late for a little trike ride!
Daddy cooked breakfast each morning, yummy! Hopefully next year, Keira will be a little more comfortable sleeping by herself...
