Gymnastics School!

Some of Keira's best friends recently left her daycare to go to preschool.  Ever since, Keira has been begging to go to "school".  For many reasons, we're not ready to send her to preschool quite yet, so we decided to sign her up for gymnastics classes.  After what happened the last time we took her to dance classes, I figured she could use another turn at working with a group and listening to a teacher.  Besides, her dance teacher recommended gymnastics for my bouncy girl!  We decided to call gymnastics class "Gymnastics School," and had her school to look forward to all week!  She was so excited for her first day of classes, she talked about it all day!
I couldn't assist her in the class- baby Tyler kept getting in the way- so Daddy met us at the school and was Keira's helper for the class.  She did great... but we discovered she was still deathly afraid of teachers.  She refused to speak more than 3 words to the Miss Brandi, her teacher.  After her first class, they moved her up to the 3 year old class, but then we decided to take her back to the 2 year old class because she refused to talk to the teacher, and wanted Daddy or I in the room with her the entire time.
Once she got over her fear (usually, it took the first 5-10 minutes of class for her to warm up), she had an absolute blast!  Gymnastics is perfect for Keira.  She loved the flipping, handstands, and especially the JUMPING!

You can see how she tries to stay away from the teacher, who can be heard saying "I saw a smile!" She finally gave the teacher a high five on the LAST day of class. Miss Brandi was so happy that Keira finally gave her some attention!
The one part of class where she was willing to have something to do with Miss Brandi was when she would hand out stamps on their hands and feet for doing a great job.  Keira would always rush over and sit down, then quietly whisper "thank you" before running back to us to show off her stamps.
After some classes, we'd all get a treat, usually either ice cream or chocolate milk.  We're taking the next few months off, but will definitely be back for more Gymnastics School!
Keira is even applying what she learned at school at home!  What a monkey!
