We had a very busy Halloween this year! Keira chose her own costume, Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street. She hated it at first, but once she saw Abby on the chest, she kept pointing to it and saying "Abby!"
The highlight of Halloween was definitely going to see Keira's newest cousin, Charlie. Charlie was only 1 week old, and so cute! He didn't really grasp what Halloween was all about, but I'm sure Keira will be happy to teach him next year.
Keira loved meeting her new cousin. She kept saying "a baby!" and trying to touch and kiss him. Because he was so small, we tried our best to keep her from touching him too much...
...but when she finally did, she was very gentle, and was very excited to meet her new cousin. I'm sure she'll be teaching him all about the world very soon.
Keira made sure Uncle Brian gave her some candy before she left. She knows what this day is all about!
After visiting Charlie, we went home to carve pumpkins. Keira was very interested in the pumpkin "guts". She tried to pull them out with her hand, but decided she'd rather use a spoon, just like Daddy.
The finished pumpkins. Daddy is certainly the best carver... I think I need some practice for next year.
After pumpkin carving, we got dressed up again to trick or treat to our neighbors. Aiden got dressed up in his finest Skunk costume, and we set off down our street.
First stop was our neighbors Bella and Gabriel. We were out pretty early, and I'm pretty sure Bella gave half of their candy bowl to Keira. At one point, Keira started walking out into their front yard, and Bella used a piece of candy to lure Keira out of the garden, like a carrot for a donkey. It was hilarious to watch Bella say "here, Keira," and Keira to follow, hands outstretched. This little girl does love candy!
Once Gabriel saw Keira trick or treating, he immediately went inside and put on his costume. We stayed and chatted with our neighbors for awhile, and then went to a few more houses, all of the neighbors we know, to say hello and collect tons of candy. Keira had a bag full from 6 houses! She is usually shy around strangers for the first time, but once she figured out that they were going to give her candy she would march up to the door, hold out her bag, and say "treat!" I think Halloween is quickly rising to the top of her holiday list.
We finished up trick or treating, and came home to play ping-pong with Daddy and Bobby, which is Keira's new favorite thing to do. She'll bring us paddles, point to the table, and say "the ball!" in a tone that leaves no question, we ARE playing ping pong. I don't know where she gets this bossiness. We had a great Halloween, and Keira can't wait until next year! We've come a long way from last year!
